An end to the FAFSA hassle

For high school students across the country, “super” Sunday has nothing to do with football – and everything to do with getting into college.
It’s called College Goal Sunday, and its goal is to help college-bound students wade through the financial aid application process, specifically FAFSA.
It was originally started by the Indiana Student Financial Aid Association, and for the past nine years, the Lumina Foundation has put up the money so the program can be offered throughout the U.S.
Staffed by volunteers – including financial aid pros – College Goal Sunday is free for students and their families.
For example, there were 22 locations in Maine on Jan. 31 where students met with volunteers to fill out their FAFSA forms. Computer labs were set up at nine of these sites, so the applications could be completed and submitted to colleges on that Sunday.
The program is currently offered in 39 states, as well as Puerto Rico.
