Are college hookups losing their attraction?

No-strings sexual encounters might not be quite as in style as pop culture would have you believe. So where are students looking for love?
Only about a third of college students has had a hookup in college, found researchers at Duke University, who surveyed students at the Durham, NC campus.
The online survey was e-mailed to a random sample of freshmen and seniors at the school, who were asked to “check all that apply” (covering most definitions of the term).
The responses:
- One-third of students in each grade had had a hookup
- Less than half involved oral sex or vaginal intercourse, and
- Nearly 60% of freshmen said they had never had intercourse.
One not-so-surprising finding among the third of students who said they’d hooked up: Drinking and having friends who hooked up themselves had a strong effect on their decisions.
