‘Grumpy Old Man Camera’ goes after drunk students

He didn’t have any luck pounding on doors, calling the cops, or complaining to the university. But this unorthodox tactic has been getting results.

To break up loud house parties in his neighborhood by Georgetown University, 62-year-old photographer Stephen Brown launched a Web site devoted to “outing” party houses: www.drunkengeorgetownstudents.com

The site features photos taken by Brown of the loudest parties on his block, addresses of party houses, police correspondence and instructions for neighbors who want to report problems. He hopes the negative publicity will hurt the university, and prompt some parents to reconsider sending their students there.

Brown’s crusade has been attracting attention from local news stations and campus blogs, warning students to beware of getting their picture taken next time they head to an off-campus party.

“The students call me a ‘grumpy old man,’” Brown said in an interview. “That’s fine. I have been called a lot worse than that.”
