Study: Enrollment at all-time high

More young adults are currently enrolled in college than ever before, according to a recent study. And that statistic is getting a boost from one area in particular. A Pew Research Center analysis of new data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows two statistics at an all-time high for college enrollment:
- The number of young adults ages 18 to 24 (nearly 11.5 million)
- The percentage of 18 to 24-year-olds (nearly 40%)
Not surprisingly, two-year colleges have been the major contributor to this jump in enrollment. Between 2007 and 2008:
- Numbers rose from 3.1 million young adults (10.9%) to 3.4 million (11.8%)
- Four-year schools did not see a change in the number of enrolled students. (There was a -0.1% point drop during the same time period.)
