If all goes as planned, India soon will administer admissions tests similar to the SATs. The country is planning to establish 15 central universities in the near future — and the higher education minister has asked that they put together an SAT-like test.

Later, this common admissions exam also could be used by 25 other universities.

Right now, students are admitted to India’s universities based on their high school graduation exam scores and possibly an interview.

India’s higher ed budget was increased over the summer to $3.1 billion — a jump of 40% over the previous budget.

Do you think SAT scores are good admissions criteria? Let us know in the comments section below.
