At least for one university, a new course in Twitter now is required for some of its students. Griffith University in Australia is making it mandatory for all journalism students to take a Twitter class.

The goal of the course? To improve the quality of students’ tweets, making them sharper and more refined.

The idea for the course came about last summer when Twitter played a journalistic part during the Iranian protests.

Not all students are supportive of the new class. Some referred to it as a “waste of time.”

Are they right? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

SOund like the course is a waste of time. On the other hand, if it was incorporated into an introduction course for computers which might be a graduation requirement, it could be useful.. As a stand-alone course it would be useless.
