Did your school make the list of “Happiest Colleges”? The rankings were put together by The Daily Beast, which used the following criteria to determine a student body’s level of happiness:
- Campus dining
- Housing
- Nightlife
- Graduation debt
- Freshman retention rates
- Clubs and organizations
- Total number of sunny days
Here are the schools that made the top 10:
- Claremont McKenna College (CA)
- Harvard University (MA)
- Pomona College (CA)
- Rice University (TX)
- Harvey Mudd College (CA)
- Scripps College (CA)
- Stanford University (CA)
- California Institute of Technology
- Yale University (CT)
- Bowdoin College (ME)

Not even close. The happiest college is, of course, Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Michigan.
Gogebic is followed by East Stroudsburg University, The Pennsylvania State University, Clarion University, the University of Findlay and the University of Toledo. How could The Daily Beast be so far off base?

What happened to libraries? I find that an important criteria. We already know about Gogebic Community College because of its great librarian.
